چکیده

The Lower Cretaceous Tuxen (lower Hauterivian – upper Barremian) and Sola (upper Barremian Albian) Formations in the Danish Central Graben (North Sea) constitute one of oldest chalk successions recorded globally, but have received little attention with regards to sedimentary facies depositional processes. This study presents first comprehensive carbonate analysis succession, retrieved from seven drill cores Valdemar Adda Fields. A total 50 are identified, based on a continuum six lithologies ranging marlstone tuffaceous siltstone sandstone that display eight different structures or fabrics, two redox-associated lithological color variations (green red) Field. record: (i) bioturbation homogeneous sediment during fully oxygenated benthic conditions low sedimentation rates; (ii) similar process heterogeneous contrasts permitting visible burrows form, perhaps due rhythmic alternation between pelagic (clay-poor) hemipelagic (clay-rich) sedimentation; (iii) suspension settling dysoxic anoxic bottom-water conditions; (iv) patchy cementation shallow sea bed incipient hardground formation; (v) reworking bioclasts intraclasts by bottom wave-induced currents cohesive debris flows; (vi) pressure solution late burial diagenesis; (vii) shear deformation intense plastic unlithified limited lateral displacement; (viii) silicification diagenesis. distribution indicates active tectonism took place prior onset anoxia resulted deposition Munk Marl Bed, which Field was followed tectonic waning repeated anoxia. constituted basinal depocenter flanked east an early inversion high characterized condensation bypass. Facies and Depositional Environments of Cretaceous Siliciclastic Sediments in Al Bauga Area , Northern Sudan

The outcropping Cretaceous siliciclastic sediments in the Al Bauga area in Northern Sudan reach a maximum thickness of about 30 meter. They rest with angular unconformity on tilted Precambrian basement rocks and are capped by Tertiary-Quaternary basalts forming a type of nonconformity. The sedimentary sequence was subdivided into three major units separated by two disconformities. The lower uni...

Depositional Enviroment And Origin Of Deformation Structures In The Upper Cretaceous Facies Of Enugu Area, South Eastern Nigeria

The Upper Cretaceous facies of Enugu Area are part of the sequence in the Anambra Basin of Southeastern Nigeria. These include the Enugu Shale, Mamu Formation, Ajali Sandstone and Nsukka Formation. The deformation structures within the Upper Cretaceous in Enugu area were dominant to sandstones of the Marnu Formation. The white silty fine sandstone, muddy fine sandstone and heteroliths of this f...

Facies Modeling of Heterogeneous Carbonates Reservoirs by Multiple Point Geostatistics

Facies modeling is an essential part of reservoir characterization. The connectivity of facies model is very critical for the dynamic modeling of reservoirs. Carbonate reservoirs are so heterogeneous that variogram-based methods like sequential indicator simulation are not very useful for facies modeling. In this paper, multiple point geostatistics (MPS) is used for facies modeling in one of th...
